EDITORIAL: Help reduce number of bears killed

Coloradans enjoy proximity to a variety of wildlife, and occasionally those of us along the Front Range encounter bears.

Sometimes those encounters are welcome, other times they are not, such as when bears enter homes, as happened Tuesday at a home near Boulder.

Those encounters don’t always end so well for the animals.

The Denver Post reported recently that Colorado wildlife managers and homeowners have killed at least 34 bears so far this summer.
