Fort Collins Coloradoan editorial: Homeward migration would be double-edged sword

Rep. Jared Polis, a Democrat from Boulder who represents Fort Collins, wants to make a difference.

You can agree or disagree with his positions, or those of any other elected official. Most will tell you they got into it because they believe they can contribute. They’ve dedicated themselves to listening to their constituencies, to working late hours trying to solve problems and to submitting themselves to the volume of criticism that inevitably comes their way.

“I’ve always been interested in where I can have the biggest impact,” Polis told the Coloradoan Editorial Board last week. “I’ve always had a strong vision for the state.”

He thinks it’s possible to make more of a difference at home than in Washington, D.C., and is considering a run for governor in 2018.
