Colorado Peak Politics, that reliable antagonist of all things Democratic, notes Gov. John Hickenlooper was strumming a banjo on stage at Denver’s Paramount Theater with the Old Crow Medicine Show last weekend – the same weekend he said he would be pondering whether to call the legislature back for a special session. Peak even links to the ColoradoPolitics.com story last week that had reported Hick’s plans for meditating on the matter (thanks!).

The conservative blog also notes that after the impromptu performance at the Paramount on Sunday, the governor:

…then, flew to Washington, D.C. on Monday where he grabbed drinks with a well-known political operative. We assume he is still not thinking about Colorado’s transportation issues.

So far, there’s still no word from the guv’s office as to whether lawmakers will be reconvening early. (Political operative, eh? Hmm.)

In any event, we’ll defer to Peak or anyone else when it comes to discerning what’s really on Hickenlooper’s mind – whether it’s a special session, a presidential run or simply the song he happens to be playing at the moment. We’ll also leave it to others to decide if Hick’s extracurricular activities leave him enough time to take up the presumably solemn business of mulling a special session.
