The Fort Collins Coloradoan editorial: Hutto shows humility, allows for fresh start

Police Chief John Hutto’s last day is May 12. The resignation, a decision reached jointly with City Manager Darin Atteberry, demonstrates humility on Hutto’s behalf and an opportunity for the department to move forward.

Regardless of what transpired and what is to come for Fort Collins Police Services, Hutto ensures the department will have the opportunity to start fresh.

The resignation required an acknowledgement that all did not go as it should have.

In a report released last week, employees said they wished Hutto would have taken a more active role in the lives of line-level officers.
