Social media and fashion sensation Nura Afia sat down with Colorado Politics to tell us how life has – and hasn’t – changed under the Trump administration.
The Colorado native, who graduated from Smoky Hill High School and now lives in Cherry Creek, gained an international reputation last fall when she was named as the first-ever Muslim CoverGirl.
The make-up giant recruited her after she built a massive following by publishing make-up and Muslim veil how-to videos on YouTube and Instagram.
The 25-year-old entrepreneur says her main interests are fashion and make-up, but that as a visible Muslim, she knows that she’s seen as a walking political statement – and that, at a tense time for many Muslims in the U.S., she’s aware that she has become a representative of her community and a role model for younger Muslim women.
