The Fort Collins Coloradoan editorial: Show your work, Fort Collins Police Services

Roughly two weeks ago, the public received a summary of findings from an external investigation into the police department in Fort Collins.

The city-commissioned investigation found racial discrimination within Fort Collins Police Services.

The investigation was required per terms of a $425,000 settlement of a lawsuit filed in 2016 by two police officers who alleged discrimination on the basis of race. A summary of the investigation’s findings was also required to be made public.

The summary released to the public was vague and lacking in detail.
