After the Valentine’s Day lovin’: Denver clerk tallies 200 newlyweds
To absolutely no one’s surprise, the 10th annual Valentine’s Day bash at the Denver Clerk and Recorder’s Office – catering to anyone who felt moved by the occasion to tie the knot – was a hit.
In keeping with tradition, judges and clergy were on hand to perform free marriage ceremonies for couples. Food and beverages were available for the couples, and there even were drawings for gifts from local businesses and others.
A follow-up e-missive from the office today dished some more details on Tuesday’s festivities, including that 100 couples walked out of the office with a freshly inked marriage license:
“What an amazing day it was,” Denver Clerk and Recorder Debra Johnson said. “We had a wide variety of couples sharing their love with us today.
“We can’t thank the sponsors enough for helping make this day special for so many people,” Johnson added. “Local businesses donated gift certificates; other elected officials and City and County of Denver agencies donated gift baskets.”
The theme of the celebration was “Picture Perfect”, and the day was just that at the Clerk’s office.
