The Loveland Reporter-Herald editorial: Moving beyond the march, and toward action

Last Saturday, hundreds of thousands of people from across the nation participated in a march, loosely structured around a protest of the inauguration of President Donald Trump. While many marchers participated in Washington, D.C., large crowds gathered in cities such as Denver, Houston, Chicago and others.

A day earlier, hundreds of thousands attended the inauguration of the president – joining the millions worldwide who watched the proceedings on television.

And Friday, many thousands more will participate in the March for Life, which shines a bright light for advocates against abortion.

Not for a moment should anyone downplay the serious political statement that participating in a march makes. In many countries, like Russia, for instance, citizens do not have the right to engage in the sorts of mass demonstrations, especially against the government.
