Kasich already planning post-election play
Signaling a clear interest in playing a continued role in top-ticket national politics, Ohio Gov. John Kasich plans to move quickly following Tuesday’s election to share his ideas for moving the Republican Party forward.
The former presidential candidate will speak Thursday at the American Enterprise Institute, a public policy think tank, in Washington.
A Republican familiar with details of Kasich’s trip says the speech will address the GOP’s post-election situation and his ideas for the future. The Republican spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to share the information publicly.
Kasich has opposed GOP nominee Donald Trump. He declined to endorse or vote for the New York billionaire and boycotted the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
Kasich instead focused his efforts on helping elect down-ticket Republicans.
