Donald Trump Jr. headlining Denver fundraiser
Donald Trump, Jr., will attend a fundraiser for the campaign of his father, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, on Wednesday afternoon in Denver, according to an invitation to the event obtained by The Colorado Statesman.
The 38-year-old businessman is the featured guest at a roundtable set for 2:30 p.m. at an undisclosed location, according to invitations sent out at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
“This visit shows that Colorado is a key battleground state for the campaign,” said Patrick Davis, state director for the Trump campaign. “We’ll be seeing many more visits such as these now that we’re in the homestretch of the race.”
Although recent polling has shown Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton holding a double-digit lead over Trump in the traditionally battleground state, a Washington Post/Survey Monkey poll released on Tuesday showed Clinton just 2 points ahead of Trump, 46-44, in a head-to-head contest, and the two were tied at 37 percent each when Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein were included in the question.
Tickets to the fundraiser are priced at $2,700 per person. The event’s hosts include homebuilder Larry Mizel, chair of the Trump Victory fund, and Joseph C. Smith, Jr. Local consultants the Starboard Group are handling arrangements for the fundraiser.
Trump Victory is a joint fundraising committee that raises money for the presidential campaign, the Republican National Committee and 11 state Republican parties, although the Colorado GOP isn’t among them.
According to the invitation, the state Republican parties sharing in the proceeds are: Arkansas, Connecticut, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming.
