Glover wins post with national Young Democrats

Colorado Young Democrats Chair Danielle Glover of Adams County was elected vice president of the Young Democrats of America at the organization’s biennial convention in Los Angeles last week, becoming the first national Young Dems officer from Colorado in more than 20 years. She was part of the Empower Young Democrats slate, which was swept into power by wide margins.

“I look forward to working with chapters across the nation to empower them with the tools they need to help elect Democrats, engage millennials in the political process, and mobilize the youth vote,” Glover said.

Commission names Court of Appeals finalists

Gov. John Hickenlooper will appoint one of three candidates who were announced this week to a vacancy on the Colorado Court of Appeals, created by the appointment of Appeals Court Judge Richard L. The candidates are Rebecca Freyre of Denver, Craig Welling of Brighton and David Yun of Denver. The governor has 15 days from Sept. 3 to make the appointment. Comments regarding the nominees may be sent via email to Hickenlooper at gov_judicialappointments@state.co.us.

Hancock announces tech office shifts

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock this week announced that Frank Daidone is stepping down as chief Information Officer for the city and the appointment of Denver’s Chief Technology Officer Scott Cardenas to the CIO position. Cardenas will head the city’s Technology Services agency, responsible for working with city departments to deliver top-notch customer service, the mayor’s office said in a statement.

“Raised in southwest Denver, Scott is a homegrown tech leader with tremendous private sector experience in developing strong, diverse teams and managing complex projects,” Hancock said. He praised Daidone for his work overhauling the city’s digital infrastructure and said Cardenas was primed to lead the Technology Services agency on a “trajectory of growing a talent pipeline and transforming Denver’s digital systems to operate with efficiency and agility.”

The agency has moved the city’s offices of Accounting, Finance and Human Resources to a cloud-based process. Prior to starting at Tech Services, Cardenas was senior director at EchoStar Corp. and has worked at Denver International Airport, Kiewit and Lewan Technologies and AT&T.
