Trump says Harris is afraid of a Fox News debate

Former President Donald Trump accused Vice President Kamala Harris of being “afraid” to show up to a debate hosted by Fox News.

“Kamabla Harris is afraid to Debate me on FoxNews,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “She will be easier to defeat on the Debate Stage than Crooked Joe Biden, just watch!”

The former president’s jab comes after he said he would skip an ABC News debate scheduled for Sept. 10, which he had agreed to before President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race.

He said the debate had been “terminated in that Biden will no longer be a participant” and argued his litigation against ABC News and host George Stephanopoulos presented a conflict of interest.

Trump instead proposed a Sept. 4 debate on Fox News in Pennsylvania, moderated by Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. He added the debate would have a “full arena audience,” unlike his scheduled debate with Biden.

In a statement posted to X Saturday, Harris said it was “interesting how ‘any time, any place’ becomes ‘one specific time, one specific safe space.’”

“I’ll be there on September 10th, like he agreed to,” the vice president added. “I hope to see him there.”

A Harris campaign official told NBC News that “it is our understanding that ABC intends to provide the airtime to whichever qualifying candidates show up — even if it is just her.”
