Colorado passes vaccine readiness test

Colorado completed a simulation aiming to prepare health officials for the arrival of a COVID-19 vaccine.
The test kits arrived earlier this week and Colorado was one of 10 jurisdictions chosen for the initial simulation.
According to the news release, state health officials were asked to prove they could perform multiple tasks including:
- Identify a provider location that will receive vaccine shipments
- Ensure orders have been submitted to the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention tracking system,
- Receive a thermal shipper without vaccine or fake ancillary kits and report
- Report receipt of shipper and kits
Officials from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and Department of Public Safety confirmed the delivery of the test thermal shipment and ancillary kits earlier this week.
Health officials say a second test will be conducted on Nov. 30 with an additional 52 jurisdictions, federal partners and some pharmacy partners.
Despite being one of 10 jurisdictions involved in the initial simulation, Colorado will not be a part of the second test.
