Vail Mountain will open Friday with COVID-19 procedures

Vail Mountain will open for the season this Friday with over 200 acres of land to give skiers and riders the space they need to social distance.

Although the mountain is officially opening on Friday at 9 a.m., initial reservations are exclusively open to season pass holders only through Dec. 7.

In an attempt to keep skiers and riders safe while hitting the slopes, face masks and social distancing will be required and enforced at all times.

Recently, Vail has received over two-feet of snow fall and combined with the mountain’s new snowmaking machine, the mountain is able to allow access to all three bases beginning Friday.

Officials say they’ll continue making snow at every opportunity as conditions permit, and hope to be able to expand the terrain and more trails, according to the release.

Despite the differences at the mountain this year, officials say one thing that will stay the same is their “commitment to opening all terrain as soon as conditions permit,” a news release read.

Anyone interested in getting a reservation on the mountain can go the the Winter Experience page at Vail.com
