Adams County buildings and office to close to the public through end of 2020

In a response to the ongoing surge of COVID-19 cases, Adams County offices will be closed through the entire month of December.

In a news released issued Thursday afternoon, county officials said the decision was to decrease the spread in the county. The closure applies to all offices and buildings except the Colorado Air and Space Port, the Coroner’s Office, the District Attorney’s Office, Human Services, the Justice Center and Probation, Riverdale Animal Shelter and the Sheriff’s Office.

“Closing our offices for the month of December will decrease the amount of exposure to both our employees and the public,” said Emma Pinter, Adams County Commissioner and Board Chair in a release.

“In support of Governor Polis’ recommendation to reduce workforces to 10%, we are doing everything we can to help keep our community safe and stop the spread of this virus.”

County offices and buildings will close on Dec. 1 with tentative plans to reopen on Jan. 5.

Residents will still be able to pickup EBT cards at the Human Services Office. Additional essential services will be offered by appointment only.

Residents needing to drop off tax and utility payments can do so at various drop box locations throughout the county including the Aurora and Westminster Motor Vehicle offices, the Adams County Government Center and the Commerce City Sheriff’s Substation.

“We want our residents to know that while the buildings are closed to the public, essential services will still be provided to the community,” said Raymond Gonzales, Adams County Manager in a release. “Our staff will continue to work from home and in the building in a limited capacity to provide these services.”

Residents can also Access Adams Online to handle many services. To learn more about department-specific operations visit the county’s website.
