The Pueblo Chieftain: Dueling farmers markets
The Midtown Farmers Market kicked off a new season last week. In doing so, it raised a question that will be answered during the sizzling summer months: Can Downtown Pueblo support two farmers markets, both operating at roughly the same hours on the same days?
The Midtown Farmers Market will be competing head-to-head with El Pueblo Farmers Market, which launched its season last month. The Midtown market will open a little bit earlier, at 7 a.m. as opposed to 8:30 a.m. for El Pueblo. Both markets are scheduled to remain open through 1 p.m. on Fridays.
This represents a change from years past: El Pueblo market used to be open on Saturday mornings instead of Fridays.
