2020 ELECTION | Bennet adds to presidential campaign staff

U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet of Colorado has added six new staff members to his presidential campaign.

The new additions and their roles, first reported Wednesday by Politico:

? Dan Sena and Scott Kozar of Sena-Kozar Strategies, who will serve as media consultants. The pair have produced videos for Virginia Delegate Danica Roem, the nation’s first transgender lawmaker, and Rep. Ben Ray Lujan, D-New Mexico. Sena is a former executive director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), which was led by Lujan from 2014 to 2018. Kozar was a media consultant to Lujan in 2018.

? Pete Brodnitz, a Democratic pollster and founder of Expedition Strategies. His background includes polling for 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

? Fundraisers Jill Straus of Straus-Baker and Tracy Sturman. Straus is a former fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee; her firm has previous experience with both the Democratic Senatatorial Campaign Committee and with Bennet from his 2016 Senate re-election bid. Sturman, a long-time fundraiser in Democratic circles, previously served as finance director for then-Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut in his 2004 presidential bid.

? Jessica Boad, as Bennet’s finance director. Boad has previously worked on Democratic campaigns in Washington state and with the DCCC.

Those associated with Bennet’s previous Senate campaigns have moved on. Dan McNally, who served as Bennet’s campaign manager in 2016, now works for the presidential campaign of Sen. Kristen Gillibrand, D-New York. Ashley Sulewski, who was finance director for Bennet’s 2016 campaign, is deputy director for independent expenditures with the Democratic Governors Association.

Bennet and former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper will both take part on Thursday’s national Democratic presidential debate in Miami.
