The Pueblo Chieftain: ‘The next’ Parkview CEO

Leslie Barnes would rather not make a big deal about the fact that she’s the first woman to serve as chief executive officer of Parkview Medical Center.

“I would like to be thought of as the most qualified candidate and the next CEO,” Barnes said in a recent interview with The Pueblo Chieftain. “It’s not that I’m not proud of being the first woman, but we don’t say ‘the next man.’ I just want to be known as the most qualified and the next.”

We understand what she means. But since she’s in the health care business, we’d like to offer a second opinion of sorts.
