The Pueblo Chieftain: Bright spots amid the chaos
The federal government shutdown is over, at least temporarily. President Donald Trump and congressional Democrats and Republicans agreed to a temporary spending measure that will keep the gears of government turning until Feb. 15 while negotiations continue over border security funding.
To be honest, there wasn’t a lot to like about the shutdown, which lasted more than a month. During that time, hundreds of thousands of federal workers and private contractors, many of whom have jobs that have nothing to do with border security, were forced to try to balance their household budgets without paychecks coming in.
There were, however, a couple of bright spots in that mess. Namely, we think both of Colorado’s United States senators acquitted themselves well during the standoff.
