Hickenlooper appoints new judge in 12th Judicial District
Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper appointed Amanda C. Hopkins as the new district court judge in the 12th Judicial District Tuesday, filling a vacancy left by the death of Patrick Hayes.
Hopkins has served as a deputy public defender with the Alamosa Regional Office of the Colorado State Public Defender for more than a decade, according to a press release from the governor’s office. She has also served as managing deputy public defender for the office since 2011.
She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Puget Sound in 2001 and her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in 2006.
Hayes, 58, died May 29 at his home in South Fork, according to the Alamosa Valley Courier.
