CSU grads sue over unaccredited master’s program
FORT COLLINS – Some Colorado State University graduates are suing the school for failing to gain accreditation for its landscape architecture master’s degree program.
In the lawsuit filed last month, 12 graduates allege that the university broke its contract with students, leading them to lose money through decreased earning potential after paying tuition and accumulating debt to attend the Fort Collins school.
Many employers won’t hire landscape architects who haven’t attended an accredited school.
The Coloradoan reported Tuesday that the university declined multiple requests for comment on the lawsuit and the program’s status.
According to documents obtained by the newspaper, professor Jessica Davis told students in an email in April 2017 that there wasn’t enough money to keep the program going and the school was not seeking accreditation.
