Rep. Lois Landgraf named a distinguished legislator by veterans coalition
The United Veterans Committee (UVC) of Colorado has named Rep. Lois Landgraf, R-Colorado Springs, its State Distinguished Legislator for her leadership and support of veterans.
UVC is a 46-year-old national coalition of veterans service organizations and affiliates.
Landgraf routinely sponsors bills aimed at veterans issues.
This session, she, Rep. Tony Exum Sr., D-Colorado Springs, and Sen. Bob Gardner, R-Colorado Springs, carried House Bill 1078 to better connect veterans in the court system with programs for mental health, substance abuse and other issues.
The bill was signed into law by the governor last Thursday.
In 2016 Landgraf formed the legislative Veterans Caucus to focus on the issues and legislation the group could support.
“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by the United Veterans Committee,” Landgraf said in a statement. “Their support and advocacy for Colorado’s veterans are invaluable, and has greatly helped me better serve this community in Colorado.
“The military and veterans community embody the finest virtues of our society, and I am proud to be a vocal advocate for their interests here at the Capitol.”
