Mental Health Colorado sets March forum for Colorado’s gubernatorial candidates

The nonpartisan Mental Health Colorado is conducting its inaugural forum for gubernatorial candidates on March 23, the nonprofit’s president and CEO, former House Speaker Andrew Romanoff, announced this week.

“We’re inviting the contenders for Colorado’s top job to tell us how they would improve care for people with mental health and substance use disorders,” Romanoff said in the invitation, which also asks interested parties to submit questions for the candidates.

“We’re encouraging students to take the lead here: What would you ask our state’s next governor? Even if you’re not old enough to vote, you have a stake in this election,” Romanoff said. “Every Coloradan deserves high-quality, affordable care. Let’s vote for that!”

Six Democrats and at least 10 Republicans are running for the job held by term-limited Gov. John Hickenlooper, a Democrat. The primary election is June 26.

The program is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 23 at PPA Event Center in Denver. Tickets are $50, including lunch, and must be purchased by March 21, the organization said. Sign up here.
