Another Grantham making political waves in Cañon City

Colorado Senate President Kevin Grantham couldn’t help but be proud in a Tuesday night post on Facebook.

“Yep. Think I’ll vote for this guy,” the Republican lawmaker from Cañon City wrote, posting an article from the local paper about his son, Justin.

The 30-year-old chip off the old block announced he’s running for Fremont County Clerk and Recorder next year. He would step into a murky situation, however. The current clerk, Katie Barr, is under investigation over “financial discrepancies,” the Cañon City Daily Record reported.

The younger Grantham works in the assessor’s office now as a mapping technician, and he’s served on the Planning and Zoning Commission. He’s also been an officer in the Fremont County Republican Party.

His dad was elected to the state Senate in 2010 and will be term-limited after the next session. He was elected Senate president last year.
