The Greeley Tribune editorial: We’re thrilled to see new positive attitude, results in Greeley-Evans School District 6 teacher contract negotiations
It’s been a while since we’ve had the pleasure of writing an editorial like this.
For the first time in a long time, contract negotiations between Greeley-Evans School District 6 and the district’s teachers union are off to a flying start. In fact, by the time the first negotiating session between the two parties finished Wednesday, they had come to seven tentative agreements.
In just six hours of negotiations, the sides agreed to – in broad strokes – more pay for more work, early agreements on dealing with hard-to-fill positions and promises of representation for teachers. That’s a stark difference from the past years.
“This has been a long road the last 10 years,” Greeley West High School teacher Kelly Longacre said. “To be done at 2 o’clock, with seven tentative agreements, I’m overwhelmed.”
