House GOP’s loss is CACI’s gain: Bill Skewes goes to bat for biz community

Former state House Republican Chief of Staff Bill Skewes has landed at biz community linchpin and political powerhouse CACI – the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry – where he will help lobby for the business group. CACI announced Skewes will work “on legislation relating to energy and environmental issues, health care issues, and will be staffing the Energy & Environment and Health Care Councils” for the organization.

Skewes, who had worked with the House GOP since 2010, is a longtime utility player for the party who also had served in the administration of Republican Gov. Bill Owens. As noted in a CACI newsletter on Friday:

Bill is the Principal of Skewes Government Affairs, LLC and brings many years of experience in governmental affairs.  Prior to starting his own lobbying firm, Bill served as the Chief of Staff for three Republican leaders in the Colorado House of Representatives from 2010 to 2016.  Before becoming Chief of Staff, Bill was a contract lobbyist and also spent more than six years in the Governor’s Office.  Under Governor Owens, Bill served as Deputy Director of the Governor’s Office of State Planning and Budgeting and advised the Budget Director and Governor on fiscal issues concerning Colorado’s state budget.

Skewes also is an attorney with expertise in property and excise taxes.

He exited the House Republican staff amid a shakeup and new caucus leadership following last November’s election.
