Mayor Michael Hancock has appointed Happy Haynes, executive director of the Department of Parks and Recreation, as deputy mayor.

Haynes, who has led Parks and Recreation since 2015, previously served as deputy mayor in 2017.

She will be replacing Murphy Robinson, who is transitioning into chief operating officer for the city.

The deputy mayor serves a one-year term, exercising the duties and responsibilities of the mayor when the mayor is unable to perform those duties.

Hayne began acting as deputy mayor August 12.
