Attorney Idris Keith said Wednesday he'll seek the District 3 seat on the Arapahoe County Commission next year, with an aim toward fiscal responsibility and economic development and growth.
"Mr. Keith is also devoted to keeping taxes low," his campaign said in its announcement.
A Democrat from Aurora, Keith is a lawyer who has worked in government contracting and procurement, small business law, business development, business consulting, and other areas, his campaign said.
“The citizens of Arapahoe County are our greatest resource, and her citizens deserve leadership that matches their greatness,” Keith said in a statement. “I want to meet this standard and I wish to unite this community behind a positive message of growth and development.”
The seat currently is help by Republican Jeff Baker of Centennial, who is seeking reelection. Democrat Jacque Scott of Aurora also is in the race. District 3 is made up of parts of Centennial and Aurora, the town of Foxfield, the towns of Bennett and Deer Trail, and unincorporated eastern Arapahoe County.
This story was updated to correct Keith's residency, instead of his mailing address, and note that he previously worked in government contracting.
