Denver Mayor Michael Hancock delivers his third-term inaugural address at the Denver City and County Building on July 16.

No one is exempt from being called on for jury duty, not even public officials.

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock was summoned to a Denver courthouse Tuesday to go through the selection process.

Hancock tweeted out a photo of his summons Tuesday morning.

Hancock later updated his Twitter followers that he was not selected to be a juror.

"Though not selected for a jury this time, I am proud of our system that guarantees the accused, a trial by jury of their peers," he wrote on Twitter. "Justice starts with all of us, willing to show up and serve. See you next time!"
