Andrew Wood will be joining top lobbying firm Colorado Legislative Strategies in mid-November, Melanie Layton, the firm's co-owner, says.
Wood has been the policy director for the Colorado House of Representatives Majority Office, advising Speaker K.C. Becker and Majority Leader Alec Garnett on developing and executing caucus priorities. Wood serves at the board-level for the Denver Young Democrats.
“Andrew’s background as an attorney and expertise on high-priority Democratic caucus bills will bring added value to our lobbying firm,” Layton said. “Andrew understands both policy and politics and we are excited to have his fresh perspective and help navigating a myriad of issues as we approach the 2020 legislative session.”
CLS cited his "widespread campaign experience" in announcing the hire.
Before his work with the House Democrats, Wood worked for his state party. A graduate of the University of Denver law school, he has practiced criminal defense, civil litigation and family law. He is a former deputy district attorney in Craig.
“I am excited to join CLS and apply my legislative and political experience to a range of issues and clients,” Wood said in a statement. “I have always admired the firm’s leadership, capabilities and effectiveness on behalf of their clients and I look forward to doing my part to enhance their impact next legislative session and beyond.”
