In the latest debate over what to do about Pueblo’s homeless population, compassion and common sense seem to have won out.

It’s been decided that the Pueblo Rescue Mission will keep its temporary warming shelter at 901 W. Ninth St. open every night until a permanent shelter is renovated and ready for use.

There had been discussions about keeping the temporary shelter open only on nights when temperatures were expected to drop below freezing. That’s the policy for temporary shelter operations recommended by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
