Last Thursday, more than a week after Election Day, the Pueblo County Clerk and Recorder’s Office announced the final vote totals in Pueblo’s mayoral race. Attorney Nick Gradisar finished first with 5,459 votes, while former City Council President Steve Nawrocki came in second with 5,026 votes.

Because neither candidate secured a majority of the total votes cast, there will be a runoff election Jan. 22. And while many Puebloans may be tired of elections after a hectic campaign season, this one is too important for the city’s future to ignore.
