College or bust.

For years, that was the slogan of many educators, who believed that getting young people prepared to attend college was one of the main goals for our country’s high schools.

To a large extent, that remains true. Postsecondary education is critical for many of the good-paying jobs that are in high demand in the 21st century economy. However, there’s also been a return of sorts to the thinking that not everybody has to attend college to have successful careers.
