Fans of “magic mushrooms” seem to be using the same playbook that led to legalizing marijuana in Colorado.

The first step: convince Denver voters to decriminalize use and possession. Voters appear to have passed Initiated Ordinance 301 by a thin margin, but the results have yet to be certified.

If the ordinance does indeed pass, we think Denver voters made a mistake. Recall that the run-up to legalizing marijuana for recreational use included a system of allowing it for medical use under a doctor’s supervision.
