Statewide turnout neared 20% the Friday before the general election.

Registered Democrats and unaffiliated voters each comprised approximately 30% of ballots returned. Republicans, representing 28% of the electorate, made up 38% of voters.

Turnout in Denver had not yet reached 14%.

Four days out from Election Day, Republicans have returned their ballots at rates exceeding those of GOP voters in previous elections. Democrats and unaffiliateds have matched or dipped slightly below their turnout.

County clerks must receive all ballots by 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Military and overseas ballots must only be postmarked by 7 p.m. on Election Day, and be received eight days after the election by close of business.

Even though Tuesday marks the end of one election, Monday marks the beginning of another: 2020 candidates for president may begin circulating petitions to appear on the ballot on Nov. 4.
