A small-business owner in Fort Collins welcomes new employees at a pay rate just barely below our median household income, and yet those employees are moving to Wellington, Loveland and Berthoud. They are chasing value that doesn’t exist for them in Fort Collins.

The average cost of a house in Fort Collins has increased by more than $48,000 from 2014 to 2016.

And those of us who are homeowners? We’re fortunate.

We have bike paths and great parks and access to commercial corridors.
