Denver mayoral candidates Jamie Giellis and Michael Hancock.

A hard fought and noisy campaign to elect Denver's next mayor ends Tuesday.

After polls close at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the city's runoff election, we'll know whether Michael Hancock will serve a third term as mayor or whether political newcomer Jamie Giellis will have scored a come-from-behind win.

Tuesday's results also will show who the city's next clerk and recorder will be, and whether any future bid by Denver to host the Olympic Games should go before voters first.

And residents of five council districts around the city will know who their next city council representative is.

It's not too late to vote -- but it is too late to return your ballot by mail. Instead, you should drop off your ballot at one of the many ballot return boxes scattered around the city. Or you can vote in person at a city Vote Center.

(To find out where to drop your ballot or vote in person, visit or call or text 303-653-9668.)

To help you sort things out, here's a recap of key Colorado Politics coverage of Denver's 2019 election and runoff. Most recent stories appear first.
