JEWISH FAMILY SERVICE

Denver

News: Van Jones, a “World-class changemaker who has a rare track record of bringing people together to do hard things in areas a diverse as clean energy solutions, criminal justice reform and racial inclusion in the tech sector,” will be the special guest at Faces of JFS, a Nov. 12 dinner benefiting Jewish Family Service.

The 5:30 p.m. event takes place at Infinity Park Event Center in Glendale. Tickets are $200 each and can be reserved by calling 720-248-4633 or emailing kateshepherd@jewishfamilyservice.org

Jones will participate in a fireside chat moderated by Scott Levin, an attorney who in 2024 retired after 14 years as regional director of the Anti-Defamation League’s Mountain States Region.

A graduate of Yale Law School, Jones is a political commentator for CNN, the author of three books that were New York Times best-sellers and the creator of the Van Jones Substack, a platform he uses to advocate for Jewish and African American allyship in confronting the rising hatred and antisemitism in the Jewish community.

In 2007 he was the primary champion of the Green Jobs Act that was signed into law by President George W. Bush. In 2009, he worked in the Obama White House as the special advisor for green jobs, and in 2018, he helped pass the First Step Act that was signed into law by President Donald Trump. The New York Times called that legislation the most substantial breakthrough in criminal justice in a generation.

In addition, Jones was the first recipient of Jeff Bezos’ Courage & Civility Award.
