El Paso County to offer installment option for paying property taxes
The El Paso County Treasurer’s Office is now offering a way for property owners to pay taxes in installments, with some qualification caveats.
The program works through EscrowTaxes.com, which takes secure payments as monthly installments toward a final property tax bill. Payment options include e-check, card or digital wallet, according to the county.
Taxpayers can only be eligible for the program if they own the property outright and have kept their accounts current. The cost of enrollment is $1 per e-check transaction or a 2.5% processing fee on debit and credit cards.
The county suggested senior citizens on fixed incomes might benefit from the program, as would business and commercial property owners seeking to simply their tax burdens.
Treasurer Chuck Broerman said in a statement that the option lets El Paso County taxpayers “plan ahead with confidence.”
“This new option provides taxpayers with greater flexibility and control in managing their property taxes,” he said.
To enroll, property owners can go to the EscrowTaxes Portal on the El Paso County Treasurer’s Office website and follow the instructions to set up an account and payments.
