GIRL SCOUTS OF COLORADO

News: Ten women whose career breakthroughs have paved the way for others and whose community service has improved the quality of life for many Coloradans have been named Women of Distinction by Girl Scouts of Colorado.
They are:
• Ale Spray, chief executive officer and president of the Hispanic Contractors of Colorado;
• Andrea Fulton, deputy director and chief strategy officer of the Denver Art Museum
• Karen McNeil-Miller, president and chief executive officer of The Colorado Health Foundation;
• Marcia Romero, vice president and community affairs manager at U.S. Bank;
• Michelle Sie Whitten, co-founder, president and chief executive officer of the Global Down Syndrome Foundation;
• Ramonna (cq) Robinson, founding partner of GFM|Center Table
• Rebecca Chopp, president of Rebecca Chopp Enterprises and former chancellor at the University of Denver;
• State Sen. Janet Buckner
• Shannon Sisler, chief people officer at Crocs, Inc.; and
• Simone Ross, chief executive officer of the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce
In addition to the Women of Distinction, two other community leaders will be recognized at a Sept. 19 celebration held at the Stockyards Event Center.
Preservationist Dana Crawford, president of United Neighborhoods, Inc., has been named the Woman of Distinction Gold while Joe Bronesky, general counsel at Sherman & Howard, is the recipient of the inaugural Girl Scout Champion award.
Since the 1960s, Crawford has redeveloped and revitalized more than 800,000 square feet of historic property in Denver, including Larimer Square, the Oxford Hotel and the Lower Downtown neighborhood. She served on the board of the National Trust for Historic Preservation for nine years and is a lifetime member of the Downtown Denver Partnership board.
Bronesky’s role at Sherman & Howard includes advising the firm’s lawyers and staff on ethics, risk management and strategy issues. He has spent some 30 years advising Girl Scouts of Colorado on a pro bono basis on issues that include contracts, employment issues and risk management.
Denise Burgess, president/CEO of Burgess Services and a Woman of Distinction in 2013, is chairing the $275-a-ticket celebration with Helen Drexler, president/CEO of Delta Dental Plan of Colorado and a Woman of Distinction in 2019.
