NATIONAL WESTERN STOCK SHOW ASSOCIATION

Denver

News: R. Stanton Dodge, chief legal officer at DraftKings, is the newest member of the National Western Stock Show Association board of directors. A longtime supporter of the National Western, Dodge also serves as vice chairman of the Honoring the Legacy campaign, which to date has raised $108 million for the development of the new National Western Center.

The campaign’s eventual goal is $150 million.

“Stanton brings a wealth of legal and business acumen to our board of directors,” said WSSA board chair Doug Jones. “His deep knowledge of the National Western and his role in the ambitious National Western Center development put him in a position to contribute substantially in short order.”

Dodge added: “It’s an incredible honor to be part of a leadership group that includes so many of the West’s most respected and accomplished leaders. I look forward to helping guide the WSSA through the National Western Center’s development and beyond.”

Before joining DraftKings, Dodge was DISH Network’s executive vice president and general counsel. Prior to that, he served as a law clerk to Colorado Court of Appeals Judge Jose D.L. Marquez.

Dodge also is a member of the boards of EchoStar Corp. and National Jewish Health. In addition, he is a member of the state’s Supreme Court Nominating Commission, an ambassador for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team and past chair of the Colorado Concern board. He recently served as co-chair of the Denver City Attorney selection committee for Mayor Mike Johnston’s transition team.

He grew up in New England, where he received a degree in accounting from the University of Vermont and a juris doctor, magna cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School. He lives in Castle Rock with his wife, Lindsey, and their three children.

About the organization: The National Western Stock Show Association is a nonprofit organization that has presented the National Western Stock Show since its founding in 1906. The 16-day show, held every January, is regarded as one of the world’s premier events of its type. It features livestock shows, rodeos, family educational events and Western trade events. The money it raises supports college and graduate-level scholarships to those studying agricultural science, business and rural medicine.
