Groundbreaking announced for CSU Denver campus
On April 30, Colorado State University will hold a groundbreaking for its new campus at the National Western Center in Denver.
The project, which CSU has branded the “Spur,” will include three new buildings dedicated to year-round educational programs for the public, as well as classrooms and areas for research.
“We invite anyone with an interest to join us and learn what this one-of-a-kind campus will offer to Denver and Colorado: a great environment for collaborative research and an interactive public space for learning and exploring around the global challenges of food, water and health,” CSU system Chancellor Tony Frank said.
The anticipated opening date for Spur is 2022. Several partner programs will reside on campus, including the Temple Grandin Equine Center, a Dumb Friends League outreach clinic and a Denver Water compliance lab.
The project is part of 2015’s measure 2C, in which Denver voters authorized up to $476 million to overhaul the National Western complex. The new CSU space and improvements to the South Platte River are part of the renovations.
The groundbreaking will occur on April 30 at 1 p.m. at 4747 National Western Drive.
