The Pueblo Chieftain: Trusting, but verifying
Let’s be honest: Pueblo School District 60 has a lot of armchair administrators. Many of us have been guilty, from time to time, of expressing our thoughts on how D60 could manage some of its programs better.
But if ballot issue 4A passes, then a select group of citizens actually will get the opportunity to provide oversight and input into how that work is progressing. The ballot initiative would authorize D60 to borrow about $218 million to make repairs and improvements at schools throughout the district and build two new high schools.
The ballot language includes a requirement that D60 establish a citizens advisory committee to monitor the building program. That committee is supposed to meet regularly in open sessions to discuss the progress of various projects and, when necessary, make suggestions to D60?s board and administrators.
