Denver museum cleanup a ‘monumental’ task after Polis inaugural ball (VIDEO)

After Tuesday night’s inaugural ball for Gov. Jared Polis, the cleanup was an event in and of itself.

Roughly 3,000 people partied with Polis at the “Blue Sneaker Ball” at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

It took about 350 museum workers and volunteers to serve those guests. Before, during and after the party, they constantly cleaned to get the place back in shape before school field trips arrived Wednesday morning.

Museum food and beverage director Patrick Hartnett estimates the ball “had about 23 bars, 10 or 11 buffets. We had six distilleries here giving out free samples. It was a monumental task to get the place open this morning.”

Once the ball was over, “we still had a ton to do, even with preliminary cleaning throughout the night,” he said. He estimates some crew members worked until 6:30 a.m.
