Colorado Attorney General-elect Weiser names executive team

Attorney General-Elect Phil Weiser Thursday announced appointments to his leadership team, including heavyweights from the Colorado legal and public policy community.

According to a statement from Weiser, the group includes seven veterans of the Colorado Department of Law, the agency headed by the attorney general, “and five individuals joining the department from diverse backgrounds in the law and public service.”

The new appointees:

  • Christopher Beall, a partner at Fox Rothschild LLP, will serve as Deputy Attorney General for Business and Licensing. Beall formerly served as counsel for the Colorado Press Association.
  • Amy Beatie, former director of the Colorado Water Trust, will serve as Deputy Attorney General for Natural Resources and Environment. Beatie ran for the General Assembly for House District 4 in 2018 but lost in the primary.
  • Robert James Booth II, of the Colorado Department of Law, will serve as Assistant Deputy Attorney General for Criminal Justice.
  • Maritza Dominguez Braswell, a partner at Fox Rothschild LLP, will serve as Deputy Attorney General for Civil Litigation and Employment Law.
  • Andrew Cooper will continue to serve as Deputy Attorney General for Criminal Appeals.
  • Janet Drake, of the Colorado Department of Law, will serve as Deputy Attorney General for Criminal Justice.
  • Leslie Eaton, of the Colorado Department of Law, will serve as Acting Deputy Attorney General for Consumer Protection.
  • Jose Esquibel will continue to serve as the Director of the Office of Community Engagement.
  • Eric Meyer will continue to serve as Deputy Attorney General for Revenue and Utilities.
  • LeeAnn Morrill, of the Colorado Department of Law, will serve as Acting Deputy Attorney General for State Services
  • Kurtis Morrison, former deputy chief of staff for legislative affairs and deputy legal counsel to Gov. John Hickenlooper, will serve as Deputy Attorney General for Intergovernmental Affairs. Morrison left the Hickenlooper administration last August to join Centura Health in a similar role.
  • Daniel Rauch, former associate at Wheeler, Trigg & O’Donnell, will serve as Counsel to the Attorney General. Rauch once clerked for now-Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.

Weiser previously announced the following appointments:

  • Natalie Hanlon Leh, Chief Deputy Attorney General.
  • Eric Olson, Solicitor General of Colorado.
  • June Taylor, Chief Operating Officer.
  • Lawrence Pacheco, Director of Communications.

“I am delighted that these individuals have agreed to fill critical leadership posts in my administration,” Weiser said in the statement.

“Together, we will begin the important work on Day One of ensuring a smooth transition and working tirelessly with an impressive team of dedicated professionals in the office to defend our freedoms, fight for opportunities for all, and protect our land, air, and water. I appreciate their willingness to serve our state and thank the Transition Team that worked hard to recruit them.”
