Call me Cupid, as Springs legislators ‘speed date’ issues
Here’s something you don’t see every day: a lightning round for lawmakers. That’s what the Colorado Springs Chamber is doing Thursday afternoon from 4 to 6 at the Antlers Hotel.
It’s like speed dating. Reps. Dave Williams, Pete Lee, Larry Liston, Terri Carver, Dan Nordberg and Sen. Bob Gardner will go table to table to be courted by the attendees on the issues dear to their hearts.
I will be co-moderating this political romance with Chamber President Dirk Draper. Love doesn’t cost a thing, if you’re a chamber member. If you’re not, it’s 10 bucks. Preregistration is available online.
“The informal sessions will also give you a chance to learn a bit more about the legislative process as well, and talk specifics with your senator and representatives about regulatory concerns you have concerning your business,” the Colorado Springs Gazette said Saturday.
The public can attend a Capitol press corps briefing from leaders of groups driving the legislative agenda Wednesday. They will summarize their outlook and concerns on transportation, energy development, the environment, taxation, jobs and social program.
The briefing is at 2 p.m. in the Old Supreme Court Chambers on the second floor of the state Capitol.
